Identified: State Police Attempting to Identify Couple Who Took $100 at Walmart

Update: State Police say the couple has been identified and returned the money.

State Police at Homer are attempting to identify a couple who they say took $100 that was left behind accidentally by a customer at Walmart on Bennie Road in Cortlandville back on August 22nd.

Police say around 4 in the afternoon, a customer withdrew $100 in cash while they were completing a purchase and inadvertently left the money at the register. The customer didn’t realize they had forgotten the money from the dispenser until they were in their vehicle in the parking lot.

The customer returned back inside the store, but the money left behind was already taken.

State Police say troopers learned a couple subsequently took the $100 and used it towards their purchase and kept the change.

Anyone with information on identifying the couple is asked to contact police at 607-561-7400 case NY2601044459.
