Severe Weather Possible Thursday Afternoon Into Evening
Severe thunderstorms are possible Thursday afternoon into the evening, according to the National Weather Service (NWS) in Binghamton.
The main threat on Thursday, August 27, will be damaging winds, though the NWS says isolated hail, heavy rain, and tornadoes cannot be ruled out.
Strong to severe thunderstorms are expected to develop as instability increases by midday. Storms are expected to move from west to east, bringing the potential for damaging wind gusts and isolated hail.

The NWS has placed the area under a Level 2 of 5 risk for severe weather, classified as a “slight risk.”
Storms are expected to move out of the area by late Thursday evening.
