YWCA Provides Update on Pool Repairs

The YWCA of Cortland has provided an update on their current repairs to their pool at their facility located at 14 Clayton Ave. in the City of Cortland.

Back on October 2nd, the 100-year old cast iron drain pipe broke as a result of rust. The break led to the 55,000 gallon pool to begin to leak in the basement of the property. Nick Loomis, the property supervisor, came in on a day typically his day off to find the issue and address it before the basement was completely flooded.

A contractor was hired by the YWCA that installed a liner to resolve the current leak and loss of pool water. During an evaluation of the pool, it was discovered that a problem with the liner was found. Contractors used a camera to find where the damage had occurred and then what needs to be done moving forward.

Currently, work is being done to install a second liner and the pool remains closed.
