YWCA Cortland will hold Polar Plunges today and tomorrow to help raise money for unexpected, extensive pool repairs.
Back in October, the YWCA’s 100-year old pool had a cast iron main valve rust through. That required the pool to be drained so that major work on repairs could be completed. For a $20 entry fee, participants can plunge, jump, step or slide into the now-refilled and not yet warm pool. Those who don’t want to get wet doing a plunge can participate by guessing the date and time of when the pool will reach its usual warm 90 degrees. Children and their families can also get in on the action without dipping into the water by participating in Friday’s YWCA Gym Palooza.
To register for any of the events, call the YWCA at 607-753-9651, or stop by the front desk of their location at 14 Clayton Avenue.
