YWCA Chefs Take a Stand Tickets Increase Tomorrow, Saturday

Today, Friday October 2 is the last day to purchase tickets before prices increase for the YWCA of Cortland’s annual Chefs Take a Stand at Greek Peaks The Lookout on Wednesday, October 7 from 6pm to 8pm. Prices will increase to $60 per-person tomorrow, Saturday, October 3.

Chefs Take a Stand is a fundraiser for the YWCA of Cortland’s Aid to Victims of Violence Program, which provides services to victims of domestic violence, sexual assault, rape and other crimes.

Tickets are $50 each through today, October 2. Tickets may be purchased online, HERE.

This year’s Chefs Take a Stand will feature dozens of creative dishes and desserts prepared by both professional chefs and local community leaders.

Live music will be provided by Tribal Revival, with a silent auction to feature a variety of items and experiences, including sports tickets, horseback riding lessons, pottery throwing, a crafting party, an eyeglass package and more.

Guests attending this year’s event are encouraged to dress in purple in recognition of Domestic Violence Awareness Month.

Beer and wine will be available for purchase from Homer Hops and Treleaven Winery. New for this year are two mocktails available for purchase, designed to raise awareness of the connection between alcohol use and domestic violence.

The YWCA Cortland’s Aid to Victims of Violence Program provides free, confidential services to victims of domestic violence, sexual assault, rape and other crimes, as well as operating a 24/7 crisis hotline.

AVV advocates provide crisis intervention, advocacy, accompaniment, legal referrals, medical support, support groups, counseling and crime victims’ assistance.

The program also operates off-site emergency housing for domestic violence victims and their children. In addition, it provides services to women and children who are survivors of domestic violence and are living at the Grace Brown House, a permanent supportive housing project owned and managed by Christopher Community, Inc.
