Guthrie president/CEO Dr. Joseph Scopelliti, MD, today suspended certain non-emergency procedures at each the organization’s hospitals, including Guthrie Cortland Medical Center.
Not all surgeries will be affected.
Schedules will be reviewed two weeks in advance and decisions about which can be safely postponed will be made in consultation with surgeons.
Patients will be notified when a final decision is made on their surgery.
Urgent and emergency procedures will continue at all Guthrie hospitals.
Scopelliti held a remote press conference this afternoon to discuss the matter further.
WXHC news director Vinnie Bellardini was in attendance.
He asked Dr. Scopelliti about any potential capacity concerns at GCMC, along with the facility’s plans for vaccine distribution once that begins in the coming weeks.
