WXHC learned this morning of another county legislator who changed his party affiliation from ‘Republican’ to ‘Independent.’

Christopher Newell (LD-11, Cortlandville) made the change in private two weeks ago.

The revelation comes a day after Homer legislators Linda Jones (LD-9) and Kelly Preston (LD-10) filed their new voter registrations together, joined by Cortlandville legislator Joseph Nauseef (LD-12).

All three did so at the local Board of Elections on River Street around 8:00 Wednesday morning.

A former 9-8 GOP majority now results in a slight 8-5-4 advantage by the Democrats.
