WXHC caught up with newly appointed Cortland schools superintendent Robert Edwards, who taught at Cortland High School for a decade until leaving in 2012 to later take on administrative roles in Baldwinsville and Phoenix.

Edwards takes over for the retiring Michael Hoose and will officially assume his new role on July 1.

Most recently, he served as Executive Director of Instruction and Personnel at the Phoenix Central School District, after four years as a Building Administrator for the Baldwinsville Central School District.

“The Board of Education and the Cortland community sincerely welcome Robert Edwards and wish him much success,” read the official announcement of Edwards’ hire from the BOE. “We hope you join us in committing to a productive partnership with our new Superintendent as he endeavors to serve all of the students attending our schools.”
