Work on Groton Ave. Parking Lot Begins Monday – Parking Restrictions Announced

Starting on Monday, June 3rd, the Groton Ave public parking lot will undergo the start of its reconstruction and reconfiguration. Crown City Rising reports parking on the western side of the parking lot will be restricted as work on the parking lot will take place in phases.

Additional parking will be made available on Groton Ave between Monroe Heights and Main Street during the work. The reconstruction will add additional handicap spaces and have an overall increase in the amount of parking spaces than what is currently available. Work will include new storm sewer replacement, new lighting, entranceway, and paving/striping.

Vehicles that will enter the redesigned lot from Groton Ave. will now only have a single entry and exit point instead of the existing two. The entrance/exit to Groton Ave. will move slightly east from the current entrance/exit by the Hollywood Restaurant. The entrance/exit next to Los Lagos will be closed off. Reasoning is to stop vehicles from cutting through the lot at a high rate of speed.

The reconstruction is expected to take about a month to complete.
