Cortland Police report a woman was stabbed Friday night following an argument at 183 S. Main Street.
Police say a 41-year old woman told them she was stabbed by a man she knew as “New York” after she refused to pay back the 20-dollars she had loaned her earlier in the day.
Another man saw the attack and helped identify 53-year old Lavalle Caldwell of Cortland.
The woman was stabbed three times, under her right arm and on the right side of her back.
She was treated and released from Upstate Hospital, according to police.
Officers caught up to Caldwell yesterday and arrested him on Attempted Robbery, Assault and Weapons possession, all felonies.
