On Saturday (May21) the City of Cortland Police Department conducted a traffic stop on Port Watson St. in the City of Cortland.

During the Stop officers determined the driver 51 year old Crista Leigh Alexander was intoxicated. She was then arrested by officers for DWI.

After arriving at the police station and going through the processing, Alexander became belligerent and then attempted to escape from custody by slipping her handcuffs off one of her wrists and running up the stairs in the attempt to get out of the building.

She was immediately stopped by officers and began to fight with them by digging her nails into a police officer which resulted in three small cuts on the officers arm causing it to bleed. No further injuries were reported.
