Woman Shot in Incident at Preble Trailer Park, Man Charged With Reckless Endangerment

A shots fired report from a residence at the Tully Trailer Park in the Town of Preble Saturday night prompted a response from area State Police.




Troopers at the home discovered a 26-year old woman with a gunshot wound to the upper body. The victim from Syracuse was treated at the scene and taken to Upstate Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries. 39-year Steven C. Schoonmaker of Preble was later arrested in connection the crime, being charged with felony Reckless Endangerment.

An investigation determined Schoonmaker had two shotguns in a vehicle when one went off, striking the victim while she was sitting inside the vehicle. Schoonmaker was arrested, processed, and taken to Cortland County Jail to await arraignment. An investigation is ongoing.
