A female is in serious condition at Upstate following a crash last night on Interstate 81-NB near exit 13 in the town of Preble.
State police at Homer responded around 9:40 pm and say the woman was the lone occupant of a Hyundai Sonata, which rear-ended a Chevy Colorado that had two people inside, sending that vehicle into the grass where it struck the exit 13 sign and a guide rail.
The Elantra also entered the grass and struck the sign, but then continued moving and ultimately ejected the female operator during the impact of the crash.
She was flown by helicopter to SUNY Upstate Medical University in Syracuse where she is listed in serious condition.
The occupants of the Chevy Colorado were not injured.
Police say the investigation remains ongoing.
