Woman From Homer Accused of Welfare Fraud Charges

Local News

A woman from Homer was arrested for Welfare Fraud on Tuesday.

Sgt. Jason Newcomb of the Cortland County Sheriff’s office identifies her as Colleen Fahey, who is 40 years old.

Newcomb reports she is charged with 8 felony counts of offering a false instrument for filing, and four additional felony charges, two for welfare Fraud, two for Grand Larceny.

Sgt. Newcomb says between December 2013 and May 2015, and again from May 2016 and last October, Fahey failed to provide DSS with her income, and in some cases, provided incorrect information.

Newcomb says Fahey received more than $10,000 in benefits she was not entitled to.

Following arraignment in Cortland City Court, Fahey was released and is due back in court in March.
