A Cortland woman was charged with a DWI last week after leading police on a low-speed chase around the city after being involved in a road rage incident.
Cortland Police were called to Owego Street around 3:30 Thursday (March 14) afternoon, where they say 53-year-old Darcey Sachetti, of Clute Road in Cortland, had parked her car in the middle of the road and was banging on another driver’s vehicle. Police say she even bloodied her hands doing so.
When she saw uniformed Police approaching her, Sachetti got back in her vehicle and drove off, refusing to pull over and leading authorities down various streets in Cortland, including Union Street, Main Street and even Valley View Drive up at Cortland High School.
Police eventually set up spike strip at the intersection of Pendleton and Huntington Streets, although Sachetti continued on flat tires until Officers were finally able to corner her to a stop on Kellogg Road.
That whole incident reported lasted about 5 minutes. Assisting Cortland Police with that incident were Officers of the Cortland County Sheriff’s Office and State Police.
Sachetti was found to be intoxicated at the scene and arrested on a multitude of charges.
She is set to appear in court March 29.
