A Cayuga County woman was charged with a DWI on Sunday (February 24) night after she crashed her car with her six-year-old child inside as a passenger.

Cayuga County Sheriff Brian Schenk says his deputies were called to the scene on Dog Corners Road in the Town of Ledyard just before 11:00 Sunday night.

They say 25-year-old Alexandria Ferguson, of Union Springs, was driving a 2015 Jeep Patriot when she went off the road into a ditch and struck a culvert.

Both Ferguson and her six-year-old child were brought to Auburn Community Hospital where they were treated and released.

An investigation by Sheriffs determined that Ferguson was under the influence of alcohol and she was also found to be in possession of marijuana.

She’s been charged with a multitude of counts including Leandra’s Law, a felony, and will appear in Ledyard Town Court on March 5th.
