Numerous officers from the City of Ithaca Police Department responded to Aldi just off of Route 13 in Ithaca on Wednesday, August 23 around 1pm for multiple reports of a person attacking vehicles with a meat cleaver.
Reports that were originally called in indicated that the person was waving the meat cleaver in the air and acting disorderly in the parking lot. Calls then came in that the person was then attempting to break windows, slash tires, and cause other damage to several vehicles parking in the lot.
As officers arrived on scene, they were able to quickly locate and take into custody the person safely and without incident. IPD have identified the suspect as 38 year old Ernetta Skipper of Ithaca.
Skipper was charged with Disorderly Conduct and then she was taken to Cayuga Medical Center for a mental health evaluation.
