The Cortland County Sheriff’s Office says a woman was arrested twice in two days at the Wal Mart in the town of Cortlandville, and twice tried escaping her arresting officers.
The first incident occurred this past Saturday (November 10th) where Police say 22-year-old Rachel Chace of Foster Road in Cortland was arrested for shoplifting at the Wal Mart on Bennie Road.
While being processed at the Sheriff’s Office, Police say Chace then slipped out of her handcuffs and attempted to attack the correctional officers in her vicinity.
Chace had to be restrained but was later released after being processed.
The next day (November 11th), Chace was again arrested at the same Wal Mart, this time for trespassing.
Again, she tried to slip out of custody and take off running, but officers managed to catch her before she got out of the building and again arrested her.
Chace’s mother, 49-year-old Tammy Chace, was also arrested for trying to prevent officers from arresting her daughter at the second incident.
Both women were arraigned in the Town of Cortlandville Court, where they were both later released with a return date of November 26.
