Woman and 7 Year Old Daughter Rescued After Getting Lost at Tinker Falls Sunday Evening

Yesterday evening, around 6:15pm, a 9-1-1 call came in to Onondaga Emergency Dispatch from a woman reporting she along with her 7 year old daughter and two dogs were lost in the woods at Tinker Falls.



Emergency responders from both Onondaga and Cortland Counties responded to search for the woman and 7 year old girl. Onondaga County Sheriff’s Air 1 helicopter assisted in an aerial search along with dozens of firefighters and police.

The woman was able to give a description of what she and her daughter were wearing to 9-1-1. Firefighters were informed at one point during the search that the woman was in the water.

After about an hour of searching, the mother, daughter and the two dogs were located by firefighters and Air 1. Everyone was able to walk out of the woods uninjured. Tully Ambulance was on scene to check on the mother and daughter.

Emergency crews were back in service a little past 8pm. Assisting in the search were the Truxton, Lafayette, Fabius, Apulia, Tully, and Nedrow Fire Departments. New York State Police and Onondaga County Sheriff also provided assistance, including Air 1.
