Winter Weather Advisory Issued For Midnight Tonight – Freezing Rain Expected

The National Weather Service at Binghamton (NWS) has issued a Winter Weather Advisory beginning at midnight tonight until 11am Saturday morning. The NWS says freezing rain is expected with total ice accumulations around a light glaze to one tenth of an inch.

Roadways are expected to become slick, especially over bridges and overpasses, the NWS warns. The conditions could make driving hazardous. Sidewalks are likely to be slippery Saturday morning.

“Be prepared for slippery roads. Slow down and use caution while driving. If you are going outside, watch your first few steps taken on stairs, sidewalks, and driveways. These surfaces could be icy and
slippery, increasing your risk of a fall and injury.” The NWS said in an alert.

The advisory is in effect for Broome, Chenango, Cortland, Delaware, Madison, Oneida, Otsego, Sullivan, and Tioga Counties.
