Winter Storm Watch Issued – Up to 10 Inches of Snow Possible in Areas

The National Weather Service (NWS) in Binghamton has issued a Winter Storm Watch until Monday, March 11th at 2pm. The NWS says heavy snow is possible with total snow accumulations of 5 to 10 inches with wind gusts up to 45 mph.

The watch is for all of Cortland County beginning later Saturday night into Monday afternoon. Travel may become difficult at times and areas of blowing snow could reduce visibility. The NWS also says gusty winds may knock down tree branches.

High snow accumulations are expected in northern Cortland County and southern Onondaga with lower accumulations in southern Cortland County. Rain will transition to snow Sunday morning and then become lake effect or enhanced Sunday night into Monday morning.
