Winter Storm Watch Issued by National Weather Service – Up to 8 Inches of Snow Possible

The National Weather Service (NWS) in Binghamton has issued a Winter Storm Watch in effect Thursday afternoon, November 21st to Friday afternoon, November 22nd. The watch was issued for the counties of Broome, Chemung, Cortland, Otsego, Tioga, Tompkins, Schuyler, and Steuben.

The NWS says heavy wet snow is possible with total snow accumulations of up to 8 inches in higher elevations and up to 4 inches in lower elevations. The weather will bring in strong winds with the heavy wet snow possibly breaking tree limbs and may down power lines, causing potential power outages.

Roadways are expected to be slippery and effect Thursday evening and Friday morning commutes.
