Winter Break Next Week For Majority of Area Schools – AAA Offering Travel Tips

For local school districts, winter break will begin the week of February 19th. For some the winter break is an opportunity to escape the somewhat mild-winter weather our area has been having to somewhere a little warmer. AAA says this year is already proving to be a busy year for traveling and the school break will be no exception.

AAA says some of the top destinations for a February break are outside of the country, the most popular being a Caribbean Cruise. Orlando, though, pulls in next as the most popular destination, primarily for its variety of theme parks.

Road Trips are still a top contributor to the winter break travels. Many travelers AAA says plan to head to destinations including Florida and Myrtle Beach. Some road trips may be a tad closer to home with destinations to ski resorts, Niagara Falls, and New York City.

With any trip planned, it is important to pre-plan your route and to give yourself a time cushion in case something unexpected happens.
