The Cortland Community Foundation today (December 5) announced the list of winning organizations from its annual National Philanthropy Day fundraising event, which this year was held on November 15.

A special awards breakfast was held this morning at the Cortland Country Club, at which $30k in prize grants was distributed to eight different organizations (see full breakdown at bottom of page).

In total, more than $342,000 was raised during the event.

On top of the $30k in prize grants, that comes out to more than $372,000 given to 40 different local nonprofits.

Cortland Community Foundation defines its mission as being the only public foundation responding exclusively to the needs of Cortland-area organizations and the people they serve.

Every dollar they collect gets invested back into the community, helping support capital improvement projects and provide equipment, materials and supplies for local organizations.

Prior to the November 29 event, Community Foundation President Tom Gallagher was featured on an edition of WXHC’s weekly Meet Cortland County program.
