This year’s winners of Philanthropy Day were announced Friday by the Cortland Community Foundation during their annual awards breakfast.
Altogether, Philanthropy Day managed to raise just over $425,000 dollars for multiple non-profits. The winners were split into two categories: Most number of donations received, and highest amount of donations received.
The CNY Living History Center received the highest number of contributions, with 146; followed by the Cortland County Historical Society (89), Center for the Arts (48) and Cortland Free Library (45).
For the highest amount raised, the YWCA of Cortland has come in first place again this year with $97,956.12 dollars in donations.
“The word that comes to mind is empowering… We put our mission into motion and everything that we do through all of the work that we have of our staff, our volunteers, our boards and to see such overwhelming support is just so moving.” Executive Director of the YWCA, Kelly Tobin said to X101 News on how it feels to have the honor of the highest donation amount and the level of effort it took.
In second place for highest amount of donations received was the YMCA ($31,730), followed by the Cortland Repertory Theatre ($30,949.93), and Lime Hollow ($27,331.12).
