Willet Man Charged With Strangulation and Assault by Sheriff


Officer’s from the Cortland County Sheriff’s Office responded to the Town of Cincinnatus on March 6th for a reported assault that took place in the Town of Willet.

Through an investigation conducted by officers, they were able to determine 29 year old Michael R. Lum Jr. of Willet, engaged in a physical altercation with the victim, who Lum Jr. knew.

A warrant was then issued by the Town of Willet Court for the arrest of Lum Jr. for Strangulation in the 2nd degree, a Felony and Assault in the 3rd degree, a Misdemeanor.

Lum Jr. was eventually located by officers on March 11th and arrested for the charges above. He was arraigned through the centralized arraignment process and was held on $2,500 cash, $5,000 bond, and $10,000 partially secured security bond with a 10% deposit.

He is scheduled to appear in Town of Willet Court next month.
