Willet Firefighters Called To Help at Fatal Fire In Triangle

Update: State Police have corrected the spelling of the man’s last name.

Willet firefighters were among the extra help called to a fire in the Broome County Town of Triangle at about 5:20 Saturday evening.

The first responders on scene pulled two people from the home on Kemak Road.

State Police say Mark Maslar, 59, was badly burned and was first taken to Wilson Memorial Hospital in Johnson City, then to Upstate Medical University in Syracuse, but he died from his injuries.

The other person rescued from the home was not injured.

According to information provided by State Police, the origin and cause of the fire are still being determined.

Departments from Broome, Cortland and Chenango counties assisted.
