This year’s Central New York Maple Festival will take place on April 13th and 14th for the 52nd year. With that, the question remains, who will be this year’s victor in the annual pancake eating contest on Saturday morning?

Participants in the annual pancake eating contest eat pancakes to help raise money for their favorite not-for-profit organization. Each participant will be given three pancakes at a time during the competition.

Last year’s contest had a tie between two eaters, both eating 21 pancakes each. The winner’s were Kristen Gregory who was sponsored by the Marathon Area Volunteer Ambulance Corps, and Dan Cross, sponsored by MCS Trap Shooting Club. Both of them have been invited back this year to claim the title.

“We didn’t think it was fair to ask them to eat a few more to break the tie” laughed the Coordinator Connie White, “so they both are invited back for another try.”

Additional challengers for the crown include:

  • Laurie Begendorf – Cortlandville Fire Department
  • Michael Scott – Preble Food Pantry
  • Sam Carlton – Seven Valley Health Coalition
  • Zach Curtis – Chenango River Theatre
  • MCS Class of 2025 – Justin Baez
  • Marathon Christian Academy Preschool – Gary Lynch
  • Dalton Shadle – The Chapel Church
  • Laurie Tebbe – Tioughnioga Chapter of the DAR

“This is our way of giving back to the area organizations in the communities that have supported our Maple Festival” said Maple Festival Co-Chair Paige Parker.  “The Maple Festival also makes a pledge  to the organization for every pancake eaten.  We pledge $2 a pancake.”
