What to expect from the Cortland County Legislature meeting tonight

The Cortland County Legislature meets tonight at 6 via WebEx. 




Some tasks they plan to tackle include honoring Ed Greenman for 50 years of service, proclaiming the month of February 2022 as African American History Month in Cortland County, Appoint Redistricting Commission of the Cortland County Legislature, and get rid of the part-time County Attorney position and create a full-time County Attorney position, on top of many other things. 

The Redistricting Commission of the Cortland County Legislature will include Kevin Fitch (chair), George Wagner, Beau Harbin, Cathy Bischoff, and Kelly Preston.

A Citizen’s Advisory Committee will also be appointed to provide input into the process of redrawing district lines. Representatives will be from city and town governments, the business, education and legal community, and two residents.

The county will create a new full time Attorney position, effective immediately, abolishing the former part-time job. The County Attorney’s office will now have one full and one part time lawyer on staff, with the full-time salary capped at about $108,000.
