Central New York is beginning to dry out from recent rains, but field work is far behind schedule in Cortland and Tompkins counties.
That’s according to Jennifer Doty, in the weekly USDA New York State crop weather report.
Doty says she’s hearing that spring seedings are still going in, and some had to be replanted following washouts.
Hay should be ready this week and the corn planting may have to wait until after hay harvest.
Across the state, onions were delayed by standing water in mucks.
Temperatures on average were about 5-13 degrees below normal.
