Weekend Chill could Bring Coldest Temps this Season to CNY

Local News

Snowfall doesn’t appear to be making much of an impact this weekend, but a hazardous weather outlook remains in effect as temperatures well below zero are expected for several days across Central New York and much of the northeastern U.S.

Locally, wind chills are expected to hit -10 degrees or colder both today and tomorrow (February 13-14), especially in areas of higher elevation.

Some could even see their lowest temperatures yet this season – at minimum, coming within a few degrees of the current benchmark set back in mid-December.

A reminder that several free “Code Blue” warming centers are available in the city of Cortland during periods of extreme cold.

On the weekends, both the Grace and Holy Spirit Church (13 Court Street) and the Salvation Army (138 Main Street) will be open from 8am to 8pm.

The Salvation Army location is also open 8am to 8pm Monday through Friday, with Grace and Holy Spirit open those days from 4:30 to 8pm.
