Webb Legislation Signed into Law to Clarify Due Dates on Constituents’ Tax Bill
Senator Lea Webb’s legislation has been signed into law this week. It aims to provide clarity to taxpayers that choose to pay their real property and school taxes through installment plans.
The new law requires that installment plan due dates to be clearly disclosed on real property tax statements. Prior to this law, there were no requirements for municipalities that enacted local laws that provided installment payments to provide a schedule of payment dates. The lack of clear due dates have led to tax payers missing payment deadlines and being penalized for it.
According to Senator Webb, this law will help keep money in the pockets of working families across the district.
