The USDA’s weekly state crop weather report shows average weekly temperatures across New York State were as much as 10 degrees above normal.

We got enough rain to stay drought-free.

Field work had to beat the rain for tasks such as planting corn, soybeans, and oats.

Alfalfa and hay harvests were reported as good quality.

Cortland County reporter Jennifer Doty says some fields in Cortland and Tompkins counties could dry a bit more before hay harvest or planting.
