Watkins Glen Woman Charged With Welfare Fraud by Cortland Sheriff – Received Over $3,500 in Benefits

A Watkins Glen woman has been arrested and charged after a joint investigation by the Cortland County Sheriff’s Office and the Cortland County Department of Social Services.


The Cortland County Sheriff’s Office says 36 year old Christina M. Grossi of Watkins Glen was arrested on Wednesday, March 27th with the charges of Offering a False Instrument for Filing in the 1st, Welfare Fraud in the 3rd, and Grand Larceny in the 3rd, a Felonies.

The Sheriff’s Office says Grossi failed to provide the County Department of Social Services (DSS) with the required information on her household income. Grossi also allegedly provided DSS with fraudulent documents on her household income back in December of last year.

Gross received benefits as a result of the falsified information in excess of $3,600 dollars.

She was arraigned in Cortland City Court on March 27th and was later released on her own recognizance. Grossi is due back in Cortland City Court in May.
