Around 6 in the morning on Thursday, January 11th, a water main break occurred near the intersection of Port Watson and Pendleton Street in the City of Cortland. Deputy Superintendent for the City of Cortland Public Works, Billy Lund, told X101 News the water main break was a clean break at the fire hydrant on Pendleton.
Lund continued to say due to the break at the fire hydrant, no residents in the area experienced a loss of water. Pendleton Street is closed between Port Watson and Randall Streets while crews worked to fix the break.
Pendleton is expected to reopen around 3pm today.
The DPW will close Pendleton Street again tomorrow (Friday) to finish paving over where the leak occurred. The closure is expected to take place starting at 9am and last about 2 hours. Motorists are encouraged to seek an alternative route during the closure.
