Warrant Now Sought For Man in Ring Door Camera Attack
The man who attacked a Ring Door Camera with a knife back on September 4th around 1:30 in the morning at a residence on Reynolds Ave. in the City of Cortland now has a warrant being sought out for his arrest. Cortland Police say no prosecution was sought, but the department is now pursuing an arrest warrant for Steven C. Knight.
News broke of the incident after a video of Knight attacking a Ring Door Camera circulated. Knight used a knife to break the camera. Cortland Police say Knight did not make any threats towards individuals during the incident and acted alone. Neither the occupants of the residence or Knight knew one another.
Cortland Police said they took the necessary precautions to ensure safety and said Knight was having mental health issues when the attack occurred. The knife was confiscated by police.
Knight is now wanted on a warrant for the charge of Criminal Mischief in the 4th, a Misdemeanor. Cortland Police also say an order of Protection is being sought for the occupants of the residence. The incident appears to be isolated with no other threat to the Cortland area.
