Wanted Man Arrested – Found With Illegal Weapon

Just before noon on Saturday, September 30th, a traffic stop was conducted on Route 11 in Cortlandville by officers from the Cortland County Sheriff’s Office.

During the stop, officers learned the passenger of the vehicle, identified as 32 year old Jentre T. Bergman of Cortlandville, had multiple warrants for his arrest and was actively violating an order of protection.

As officers were taking Bergman into custody, they found in his possession an illegal weapon. Bergman was charged with Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the 3rd, a Felony, and Criminal Contempt in the 2nd, a Misdemeanor.
The warrants for his arrest come after a domestic disturbance that occurred the day prior. An investigation found Bergman entered the victim’s residence and then engaged in a physical altercation with the victim, all while violating a full stay away order of protection.

Charges from the incident include: Criminal Contempt in the 1st, a Felony, Criminal Obstruction of Breathing or Circulation, Criminal Trespass in the 2nd, both Misdemeanors, and Harassment in the 2nd, a Violation.

Bergman was taken to the Sheriff’s Office where he was processed and arraigned through the Centralized Arraignment Process and then remanded to Cortland County Jail on $50,000 cash, $100,000 insurance bond, or $250,000 partially secured insurance bond.

He is due in Cortlandville Town Court later this week.
