Governor Cuomo announced yesterday (November 20) that New York State is partnering with Walmart, Wegmans, Gristedes and the National Supermarket Association to help deliver meals to feed more than 40,000 New Yorkers this Thanksgiving Week.
Walmart donated more than $27 million last year alone to beneficiaries across the state of New York.
These included both cash and in-kind donations in the fight against hunger.
This figure includes more than 14.3 million pounds of food, which is the equivalent of more than 11.9 million meals.
According to the USDA, 42 million Americans struggle with hunger, which is one out of every eight of us.
