Walmart Employees Stop Another Would Be Thief

On Sunday, December 11th, the Cortland County Sheriff’s Department was dispatched to Walmart on Bennie Rd in the Town of Cortlandville for a reported larceny.

Through an investigation conducted by officers, it was determined that 30 year old Kassey E. Roe of Cortland, was switching pricing barcodes on merchandise to a barcode with less value, which created a false entry into Walmart’s inventory system. Roe also stole several items from the store without paying for them.

When she was attempting to exit the store with the merchandise she stole, she was stopped by Walmart staff. Roe then left the cart full of stolen merchandise outside the store and left the parking lot in her vehicle.

Sheriff officers were able to conduct a traffic stop on Rose within the City of Cortland. During the traffic stop, she was arrested and charged with Falsifying Business Records in the 1st, a Felony, and Petit Larceny, a Misdemeanor.

However, she was also found to be in possession of a controlled substance and was also charged with Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 7th, a Misdemeanor.

Roe was transported to the Cortland County Sheriff’s Office where she was processed and then released on appearance tickets.
