Volunteers Needed For Salvation Army of Cortland’s Red Kettle Campaign – Donations Also Needed
The Salvation Army of Cortland says they are in need of volunteers for their Red Kettle Campaign and Angel Tree program during the holiday season. Both money raised during the Red Kettle campaign and the Angel Tree Program go to assist the Salvation Army of Cortland to provide Christmas food baskets to nearly 150 families, along with toys and winter clothing for over 500 children.
“We’ve raised about $16,500 toward our $54,000 goal for our Red Kettle campaign,” said Major Corinne Hayes, Corps Officer. “We only have three weeks before Christmas and we ask the community to invest in our most vulnerable population.”
The Red Kettle Campaign also helps bolster their food pantry, soup kitchen and Code Blue Warming Center. All donations made stay in Cortland to help those locally. The need for assistance for the Salvation Army of Cortland has continued to increase due to current economic hardships, including the need for volunteers.
“Volunteers are the backbone of The Salvation Army – the army behind the Army – and we cannot provide the services we do without volunteers coming alongside us as partners in our mission of helping those most in need,”
added Major Hayes.
Hundreds of volunteers are needed for the remaining weeks until Christmas. To learn more about becoming a volunteer for the Red Kettle you may call (607) 753-9363 or go online by clicking HERE.
If you cannot volunteer, you can always help by dropping cash in a Red Kettle while out shopping or donating to a virtual kettle.
