Cortland Common Council meets tomorrow night for a short meeting that will include virtual public hearings on the budget and overriding the state tax cap.
As proposed on October 21, the plan wouldn’t require exceeding the cap and would increase taxes about one percent, but that won’t be easy. Mayor Brian Tobin has said avoiding an increase of 6-8% requires several unique strategies.
More budget workshops are to be held after tonight’s potential vote on a tentative plan. The first is scheduled for next Monday, November 9.
City blue bag users are also reminded that this week is glass only for recycling collection (first full week of each month).
The remaining three weeks can be used to recycle other accepted materials.
