A Town of Virgil man who is facing 31 charges including murder in connection with the DWI crash that killed his six-year-old daughter is due in court today to be arraigned.
29-year-old Dan Haynes is due in county court today where he will be formally arraigned with his attorney.
A Cortland County Grand Jury handed up the 31 count indictment on November 20th.
Police say Haynes was drunk behind the wheel on April 24th when he struck a utility pole at a high rate of speed a short distance from his home on West State Road.
Haynes three daughters girls ages 6, 8, and 10 were riding in the back seat unrestrained along with two adult passengers. His daughter Alexia died in the crash.
The second-degree murder charge accuses Haynes of showing depraved indifference for human life by recklessly engaging in conduct that caused death and injury. If convicted he faces up to life in prison.
