Virgil Man Charged With Rape

The Cortland County Sheriff’s Office says they opened a sex abuse investigation back on November 25th of this year; their investigation was assisted by the Tompkins County Sheriff’s Office. 

During the joint investigation, the Sheriff’s Office says their investigators found 20 year old Nicholas J. Gleason of Virgil, had inappropriate sexual contact with a female under the age of 17 who was known to Gleason. The investigation found the incident had taken place at a residence within the Town of Virgil.

Gleason was arrested and charged on December 9th with Rape in the 1st, a Felony, and Endangering the Welfare of a Child, a Misdemeanor. He was transported to the Sheriff’s Office for processing and arraigned via the Centralized Arraignment Process. He was then remanded to Cortland County Jail on $5,000 cash bail or $10,000 bond. 

Gleason is due in Virgil Town Court next month.
