Village Plans to Hold Public Hearing Regarding Passing Deed Over on Little White Church

Village of Homer Attorney, Fran Casullo, spoke towards the end of Tuesday’s Board of Trustees meeting regarding the Little White Church on Central Park Place in the Village of Homer. Casullo suggested to the board they add to their agenda for their next meeting on Tuesday, October 14th a public hearing and then vote on passing the deed over for the Little White Church.

Casullo says he has been approached by representatives for the Little White Church that tendering over the deed from the village to them will help them with their Downtown Revitalization Initiative application process.

The Center for the Arts of Homer agreed to purchase the building back in October of 2022 from the village for the amount of one dollar. Part of that agreement will have the Center for the Arts ensure the building remains a creative community center.

Casullo says he will ensure all the paperwork is up to date, but also wants to ensure that every step of the process is properly taken, including the village holding a public hearing. He added that though the village is not receiving any type of significant monetary amount for the Little White Church, that the village will look at the long-term effects the building will provide as a community center.
