The Village of Homer Trustees met Wednesday night from Village Hall. One item on their agenda was the Smart Cities Proposed contract and what to do with some left over available money.

According to the village they’ve got over $16,000 left to use, and could fund three cameras.

Locations discussed were a camera at the Albany Street and South Main Street intersection and at Glenwood Cemetery. A third camera could be used at Newton Park as well, says the village.

Village of Homer Mayor Hal McCabe did say they must be attached to the LED light poles. He also requested the board approve him to sign the contract and move the project forward.

Trustees did agree to authorize the Mayor to sign the contract based on adding the three cameras. The vote was unanimous.

No start date was indicated for the project.

The mayor also reminded the trustees that this project includes the public Wi-Fi on the green and elsewhere in the village.
