Village of Homer Reminding Residents Dogs Must be Leashed
During the Village of Homer Board of Trustees meeting on Tuesday, Trustee Elizabeth McGrath brought up a reminder that dogs within the Village of Homer must be leashed and are not permitted to run freely throughout the village.
McGrath brought up the reminder after she was informed of a constituent in the village who was walking their dog, who was leashed, and was attacked by a dog that wasn’t leashed; the resident was reportedly bitten. McGrath didn’t go into details regarding the attack, but emphasized that residents who see someone violating the village’s leash laws, to call Homer Police who will get into contact with the dog warden.
According to the Village of Homer, all dogs are required to be licensed and are not permitted to roam freely in the village. Residents can buy a dog license at the Town Clerk’s Office located at 31 N. Main Street during business hours.
