Village of Homer Receives $4 Million in Financing For Water Infrastructure Projects

The Village of Homer was named as one of the municipalities to receive financing for water infrastructure improvements projects throughout the state. In total, Governor Hochul highlighted over $428 million dollars in projects across New York.

“Properly functioning water systems are crucial to New Yorkers’ quality of life – from the water flowing from taps to the numerous lakes and streams that provide amazing recreational opportunities,” Governor Hochul said. “These grants and low-interest loans help protect public health and the environment, reduce pressure on communities to raise funds quickly for essential upgrades, and minimize the financial impact of these crucial projects on local ratepayers.”

The Village of Homer will receive $4 million dollars in financing to support the installation of a new 400,000 gallon drinking water storage tank. The financing will also go towards the decommissioning and removal of two water storage tanks along with nearly 1,850 linear feet of water main and a booster pump station to serve new users for the Village of Homer.

The funding comes after the Environmental Facilities Corporation Board of Directors approved the requested financial assistance. The authorization gives the village access to low-cost financing for the projects.
