The Pear Trees on Main Street in the Village of Homer, have reached their life expectancy and the village plans to look into removing the trees and replacing them.

Village of Homer Deputy Mayor Pat Clune said at some point the trees will come down. Some of the trees can already be seen with dead branches, most noticeably, the tree in front of 23 South Main Street.

Options of what will replace the trees are still very much in the discussion phase with the village’s Department of Public Works. More information will be sent out to village residents when more information is available.

“Just to give a heads up to our residents that, at some point, those trees are coming down because they are done.” Clune said to the board.
