On Saturday, November 12th, the day after Veteran’s Day, the Village of Homer Police Department, the Homer Fire Department and the Cortland County Sheriff’s Department held a Veteran’s day event at the Homer Veterans Police and Fire Memorial at Durkee Park in Homer.
During the ceremony, Homer fireman Gordon Ivory, a veteran of the US Marine Corp, read a proclamation by President Eisenhower declaring November 11th Veterans Day.
Ivory also read the names of all Homer Fire and Police who are veterans.
