Village of Homer Holding Veterans Ceremony Saturday at Durkee Park

The Village of Homer will hold their annual Veterans Ceremony on Saturday, November 8th beginning at 10am at Durkee Park in the Village of Homer. The ceremony will be held at the plaque in the park honoring Homer Veterans who served or have served their country and community with bravery and distinction. Both the Homer Police and Fire Departments will be hosting the event.

The ceremony is being held prior to Veterans Day which is this Monday, November 11th. The ceremony is open to the public to attend and all first responders.

Back in 1926, Congress passed a resolution for an annual observance with November 11th becoming a national holiday in 1938. Veterans Day pays tribute to all American Veterans, living or dead, and gives thanks to living veterans who serve or served their country.
